Thread: Resident Evil 0-3: Would You Want Re-makes/Re-releases of These?

  1. I don't think it would be as good as everyone thinks. Would you pay full price for a RE2 remake? I think tons of people would say 'yes' then about 95% would find some reason or other to wait until it's $20 or less.

If it's going to release at digital pricing ($20?) it's not going to be remade. There's no way they're going to put that much effort/money into something just to sell it for a low price that most people will wait for a 50% off sale to buy.

  2. Say what you will about SVC Chaos, but they sure did understand how the Darkstalkers sprites should be remade...

RE2 remake is a monster amount of work - same as building a whole new game. My issue is that something is fucked at Capcom where they can't see that would be a good investment. Maybe they can rip the Morrigan sprite to Ultra SF4 AE2015 though.
Capcom's historical laziness is certainly well documented but given the trend of re-releases in all its forms I wouldn't say it's out of the question even if it would be a "from the ground up" remake. That is unless they just go full reboot for the RE series with the next one.

  4. I am completely shocked that they haven't done a bunch of episodic DLC-only shit for RE yet.

I can't even convince myself to spend $20 on RE: Revelations, and that's a brand new game.

This is what RE 5 and RE 6 have done to people's perceptions of RE games.

Isn't this how it is with every game?

  7. Yeah, but with a remake it's probably a harder sell. Even a big RE fan would probably not want to pay 50-60 for a re2 redone, even less for someone who's not a big fan. So I'd guess Capcom sees the situation as not worth the investment. And I'd agree.

  8. Except I'm talking about a RE2 that isn't just some upscale port but actually a new version that brings something to the table that we haven't seen. Like the RE1 remake. I think that survival horror has seen something of a resurgence and I do think RE2 could find a new audience while also appealing to people who were fans of the original many years ago.

  9. RE2 barely got made the way it is the first time. I'm not sure they could do it twice on purpose.

Yet REmake sold less than the original. Yes, it was released for the GC, but I think Capcom is still going to be wary of things like that.
