That's not what this is though. Remaster to me at least implies an upscale. REmake was a full-on remake that is now being remastered. Though it's possible, it'll be a while before a true remaster of a remaster, and the assets would be so ugly by then that it probably wouldn't make sense.

Then you're wrong. When a movie is remastered, do they reshoot it? Because that's what the equivalent of REmake would be. If you're changing the original assets, that's not a remaster, and the original assets for RE2-3 look like shit, so no one would want to make them more clear.
