It's too bad, the game looks really good. I'll play it when someone fixes it. Whoever that may be.
I have enjoyed reading this thread
True story: I was going to spend actual real money on the osx version because the game sounded so awesome. Not anymore!

SimCity PVP:They found a way around this with disasters but it still requires investment and is a pretty good way to block other players. So you want to grief a public region, or maybe your friends? Well, just claim a city, or more, take out all bonds and spend it all on roads. The game will now go to pause because you don't have any money, and as you have no buildings, you have nothing to turn off, no income, only expenses for the bonds, and because the game is automatically paused, you can't receive any gifts from your neighbours.
Abandoning the city doesn't reset the economy in any way, so all you're left with is an unplayable area in the region. Do this to a lot of citys in the region, and you've successfully ruined the game for everybody. Here's a another way to grief: Claim a lot. Use all available cash to buy as many bus depos as possible, quite a lot if you have access to the the 100k bonds. Fill them up with busses. Now all your buses will flood the neighboring cities causing massive gridlocks. I had a conga-line of buses in one city spanning an entire length of the map.If you own any of the city sets and plop anything from them in a city and then abandon it, anyone who doesn't own that set cannot claim the abandoned city.
This fucking game.
I really have no faith that EA is going to put the work in to get it where it needs to be. I really thought Maxis was better than this.
Solid review that addresses a number of the complaints from those who bought this disaster.
Even EA's own employees are now begging them to allow them to patch in an offline mode.
Also- lol:
A few things:
Posting the phone number for EA's support line is censored in the official forum. At least it was yesterday, I'm not sure about today.
Similarly, typing "DLC" is censored in the in-game chat.
After months of talking about how this game could not exist without a forced internet connection, Maxis boss Lucy Bradshaw (who came over from EA) had this to say:
So, could we have built a subset offline mode? Yes. But we rejected that idea because it didn’t fit with our vision.
Oh you wanted QC? If cars get stuck together you get permanent gridlock.
If I recall, the only solution is to bulldoze the road.
damn did I ever call that dlc/microtransation shit, way to be predictable ea
e: and they finally came out and said that it's a mmo (and fuck you if you wanted otherwise) http://www.ea.com/news/simcity-updat...wers-from-lucy

Was there ever any doubt that the always online was to force people into the store?
Just like Diablo 3's was to force people into the RMAH.
