I went on a big TM spree before it came out to get hyped up and found it to control far worse than even the ones where you moved with the D-Pad. Plus, they nixed each character getting their own story.

Lost in an Odyssey
I thought Twisted Metal 2 and Black were pretty fun car combat games, among the best even.
I haven't played a whole lot of them as of recent nor have I played the PS3 version but seems to rate in the above average territory.
The whole series is a piece of shit, so I never touched Black.

I wouldn't have but a friend owned it so I borrowed it to see if the series had gotten any better. I don't mind giving chances to a series to see if they evolve over time.
Twisted Metal PS3 is unnecessarily ugly and the voice acting is sad and sweet tooth's armor is outrageous. The new levels are pretty sweet though. I hate the way the pickups look, and they seem to be scattered haphazardly, but finding all the power missiles is still fun. Get a fast car and it's not a terrible game.
All I know is the PS1 games are overrated garbage.
