While I think District 9 is a better movie, I liked Elysium a lot. It being so predictable was a downer and that wonder machine is too Messiah-ish. It does EVERYTHING with just a sweep motion. You'd think all of that shit would require something more complicated, it was too sci-fi convenient. Aside from that, it was cool. Looks amazing and Shartlo is a brilliant actor. A complete switch from his District 9 role. What's with Neil and liking to make people explode? I forgot about the pop guns in D9 and it seemed like every weapon had a "blow them into chunks" function in this. The spaceship fight had one of the greatest payoffs and all of the action scenes were great.

I saw this over the weekend and enjoyed it a lot.

I see a ridiculous number if parallels to District 9 though. Like, enough that you list them for so long people would get bored of reading your stupid long list. This makes me worry that I'll totally know the entirety of how his next movie will play out and I hope that's not the case.
