Man fuck you guys. I'm gonna have to get this now.

There's so many little hints like the fact that where your house is in Lorule is abandoned, except for a treasure with a bottle in it. If you play it in hero mode, Ravio's diary is there and readable.
You have no soul.
Are you one of those young freaks that didn't grow up with LTTP and only love OOT? That could explain it.
I think he meant more that there's going to be an additional connection from it being a sequel.
I got the Zelda 3DS for Christmas and went through this game last week. Impressions!
It's totally a remake of Link to the Past, but not. It controls like how I remember the old game, but it's got the new game polish, a lot more talking, and a new set of dungeons, so it doesn't feel like a retread. I don't want to call it a sequel, but, I guess it is. It just seems like they took the old game and retooled it for modern sensibilities.
That being said, I'll say the game was too easy. I don't think the rental system worked all that well. The moment Ravio's store was open, I rented all the equipment (because what else am I going to do with all these rupees) and the only time I died was in the challenge tower. I could get through the bosses without even trying to dodge their attacks.
So, I had all the equipment at the beginning of the game. Before I got the master sword, I already had the ability to warp around the overworld. Add on the item meter, which effectively gave me infinite ammo and bombs, and I felt like I was playing through the game with a game genie. Because I had all this power, I never really felt like I was unlocking anything or progressing through the game.
I'm thinking back on the order I did the levels, and what order I should have done them, and they all felt about the same difficulty in my head. I started with the Eastern Palace, and then I just went to whichever crossed my path next. Turtle Rock is traditionally the last palace, but I think I did it third because I just stumbled into it. I didn't feel like I was doing an end game level. They all had the same kind of impact to me. I never felt like I was going on this epic journey like I remember Link to the Past being.
The actual game was solid, though. I had a blast playing it and I look forward to Hero mode. I was just surprised, the idea to go anywhere seemed great in my head, but in actual gameplay I think the game lost impact because of it.
And the screenshots were ugly, but the actual game was awesome. I loved the expressiveness of the characters despite the size on the screen and I loved the color palette. It would have looked great if the 3DS displayed at a higher resolution.
