Yeah, I don't get it, either. Looked pretty damn big budget to me. The CG on the Destroyer was pretty rad.
Y'all can gargle a cock.
Thor: Dark World looks good to me. If anything it looks like a higher budget Game of Thrones, Which this director has done.

Loki's punishment doesn't seem too severe considering he usurped Odin's throne and basically destroyed New York City. Looks like they just gave him a pretty swanky cell and took away his hair care products.
Thor: We're being attacked by Dark Elves we need your help, but first we must trim off the dead ends and exfoliate those folicles.
Loki" When do we begin?

Will probably wait and see what the general opinion on this film is before going to see it as I wasn't a fan of the first one.
Asgard's a floating city in some space dimension so I though they conveyed that well enough, Dark World obviously has a bigger budget so it looks a bit different but I suppose they could have explored the actual city a lot more than in just sweeping shots in the first movie.
As for the whole Destroyer/Loki end scene, while it didn't seem as epic as doing it in a crowded city the Avengers did that a lot and the sequel looks to up the ante on the whole franchise so I think the budgetary constraints won't be as big of a problem this time around. The original script was more focused on Asgard and the other realms but it looked like Marvel wanted to ground Thor to earth more which is why they went the JMS comics route and had him help re-write the film.
I'll admit, I would have wanted to see more of the Mark Protosevich script than what we ultimately got but apparently that would have been some $300 million dollar movie.
