Thread: Rastan series

  1. #1

    Rastan series

I love this series. Well, except for the second game which sucks ass.

Rastan 1 is a great platform game I used to play in the arcades and at home for hours.

Warrior Blade: Rastan Saga 3 is a good beat 'em up although it hardly resembles the original game.

    Your thoughts?

  2. Wow, did Rastan Saga 3 run in one of those jumbo Taito 3-screen cabs?

I'm sorry I've never seen that one in action.

Rastan I, however, I very much enjoyed in arcades. Lots of Conan-style sword-swinging action.

You read my mind. I have never seen Rastan Saga 3 screens, and damn it looks good.

  4. I've only played the second Rastan game, and like you said, that game was terrible. Ain't easy on the eyes, either.

Warrior Blade looks incredible, especially the screens at KLOV.

I don't remember if Rastan 3 used a triple-screen like Ninja Warriors but it definitely had a wider screen than normal.

  6. It was two screens, I think (check the resolution of that image). I played it some years ago... pretty uninspired gameplay, IMO.

  7. the original was one of the first games i got for my master system. ahhhh the memories.

  8. I used to really enjoy it in the arcades when I was a kid. I seem to remember being very bad at it, though. How is the Master System port? I can't imagine the graphics being up to par, but I'm more interested in how faithful the gameplay is. Or should I just emulate the sucker (note to people that want to give me crap about emulating a 15 year old arcade game: Blow me)?

The SMS version of Rastan has the gameplay pretty much intact. The arcade version is a little bit more fun to play.

The graphics are below-average for an SMS game. It looks like an NES game with a few more colors. The music is very well done.

What amazes me is that is an actual third-party release and not a Sega-ported game.

Here's a pic of the SMS version.
