i wonder what Microsoft is gonna attempt to do to counter Mario.

Sony plans on spending over one billion yen this summer in advertising, in hopes of quelling the anticipating building around Nintendo's Super Mario Sunshine.
Due out on the Nintendo GameCube this month, Super Mario Sunshine is the most-anticipated game in the Land of the Rising Sun, according to polls in Famitsu, and is expected to sell over one million units shortly after its release. With figures like that, you can be certain more than a few GCs will fly off of store shelves.
Sony hopes it can draw gamers' attention away from The Big N's mascot by releasing two new versions of hardware and marketing some of its software aggressively.
new hardware? good luck. honestly, im really suprised that any developer out there would bother releasing any of their big games in the same month as Mario.
anyways, i wonder what Microsoft is gonna attempt to do to counter Mario.

Actually, the shipment of Biohazard was only 400K, of which it has sold about half so far. Considering Smash Bros DX has sold well over a million, I think the first Mario game in 6 years will easily match that. And as the article said, its the most wanted game.Originally posted by maruchan

... people didn't buy a GC for Biohazard... they bought it for Mario
... even if i don't really care about SMS, i see it selling a shit load of copies when released
I honestly don't think there is shit Microsoft or Sony can do to keep people from buying the game. If they've already made up their minds to buy it, bombarding them with a bunch of cheap ads and such isn't going to change it unless you're one of the sheeple. The 64 was pretty much reviled in japan but mario 64 still sold like hot cakes(ugh, can't believe I said that), so you can imagine how good this one will sell.

When asked about the release of SMS in regards to Sony and Microsoft, Miyamoto was quoted as saying "[they will] Cower in fear as I demonstrate my true power! Mwahahahahaha!!"
Ok.
So not really.
But I bet it was something like that![]()
