Thread: The Sega Master System Games and Appreciation Thread

I believe you are, because the Genesis hardware is capable of directly playing the SMS games, except that the cartridge slot was not set up for it. The PBC is basically just a hardware pass through. I don't think any emulation happens at all.

Ah. I had no idea they were directly compatible!

That is correct, the Genesis already has everything it needs to play SMS games, the converter is just a pin converter. Because of this, the Everdrive flash carts can play SMS games directly on the Genesis, no converters required.

It is interesting that the master system, Mega Drive and Game Gear had such similar programming for games and yet greater efforts were not taken to take full commercial advantage of that fact.

Was there that much similiarity between the Game Boy and snes? And yet we got the super gameboy. How about the gba and gamecube? And yet we got the gbplayer.

    Sega, king of the bunglers.

No similarity at all re: Super Game Boy and GBA Player, which is why they have some issues.

The Colecovision had an expansion module that let you play Atari 2600 games, but I think there was one for the Intellivision as well.

really digging this 'splash wave' track on Out Run. Some what sure that 'The Ventures' were a major inspiration for it. The chorus reminds me a lot of their version of Suicide is Painless with just a breath of slaughter on tenth avenue

Wait, English version? I have the original Japanese physical release, but didn't know there was a fan translation of it. Is it something that can run on a modded PS2?

  9. It is! The best part is that it's already patched. Just download and play!

  10. I did a little piece on that patched Phantasy Star game when it first came out - it gave me a reason to bust out the modded PS2 beyond puro games. Oh, and to keep things on-topic, I've really grown to love the SMS's library thanks to the OUYA - ditto the TG-16.
