I think the Sonic stuff is a better parallel for GameCube era Capcom, and, while not in the same league as Shinji Mikami, they look very promising.

Hopefully Nintendo does more with their other franchises even if it means having them developed by a 3rd party again so I'd love to see more of Wave Race, Starfox, Metroid, Earthbound, Fire Emblem, Sin and Punishment, Golden Sun, F-Zero, Kirby, Pokemon Wii U, Punch Out, Pilot Wings, some sort of Diddy Kong Racing sequel (or incorporate more of these into Mario Kart), just a lot of franchises that have sold well but Nintendo not having done diddly squat with some of them over the years just to play it safe with the same stuff.
It's a crime that we haven't even seen an announcement of a new F-Zero, Star Fox, Metroid or Wave Race on either the 3DS or Wii U. But, look at that differently. Those four series started on three different consoles. Beginning with the GC, Nintendo forgot how to actually make anything new internally. What was the last good new Nintendo IP? I'm honestly having trouble thinking of anything after Wave Race.

edit: I guess you could argue Luigi's Mansion, but that's a bit of a stretch in terms of new IP. And that's still, what, a dozen years ago?

After all Sonic Generations made some good money being multi-platform so if it doesn't perform to expectations at some point there might be a port.

However it's not impossible that all of these 3rd party exclusives remain there, we've had situations like Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes and the Resident Evil remake where they've never been ported over.
Nintendo owns the IP for Wonderful 101, they're paying for Bayonetta 2 to be made at all, it's impossible for the first one to end up anywhere, and I HIGHLY doubt Bayonetta 2 will end up anywhere else. As far as Lost Worlds rumors say EAD is helping Sega with it, so I'd put that as a highly unlikely to end up else where. These are different situations than Rayman, or Deus Ex.

  3. I would kill for a new F-Zero, Star Fox, or Metroid. I'm still annoyed by Donkey Kong being Retro's game. It was tweeted by one of the higher ups at Retro that they contemplated doing another Metroid or Donkey Kong game, and they felt they had more to do with Donkey Kong still, so that was all on Retro not Nintendo. That said they need to pick the right developer to hand these IPs to. The last few Star Fox games (not counting the remake of SF64) have been pretty fucking shit. Granted the handing of F-Zero to Sega was fucking brilliant and made for the best game in the series.

Agreed on all counts. Hell, sign me up for a Star Fox 64 3D handling of Wave Race though. I don't even need a new one of those.

Everyone always talks about the Scrooge McDuck vaults full of money Nintendo has. Why don't they make some developer acquisitions to expand their bandwidth? Imagine if Nintendo would have bought Bizarre Creations or Black Rock and put them on F-Zero and Wave Race.

He's talking about games that XSeed Published, after people started a giant campaign against Nintendo to bring these games over, where they acted like retards and said "We never say never, but no". Then he's talking about Nintendo published exclusives. Then he's talking about timed exclusives.

Yoshi's talking about Nintendo reusing assets in a game that's a refinement of another game and complaining that it looks like they're being lazy, or panicking right?
    Jesus Christ.

The quote was For Finch's post. I pointed out that Nintendo has had a decent track record with Wii of backing original/sequels of titles rarely associated with them. You raised the US arm of N for their handling of the Rainfall games. Yosh acts like Sin and Punishment 2 is getting PS 3 version tomorrow cause "second parties" wield amazing leverage. Bullshit.

Look at the first year of Wii. Fire Emblem, Mario Strikers, Battalion Wars. Quick turnaround titles til the original titles were set to roll. DK, Zelda WW HD, and Mario 3D? Same philosophy, except Yosh has exception to Pikmin 3, Wonderful, Etc because they don't drive his point and thus cannot be worthwhile reasons to own a Wii U thanks to high school debate.

Um, what? I have been debating Nintendo's first party development not their publishing or the overall quality of the system libraries.

I named Pikmin 3 and both Platinum games in my first post. But, please, keep making shit up.

edit: Second post not first. Point still stands.

Please show me the post where I bitched about Star Fox 64 3D.

edit: This needs a more responsible reply actually. Here is why I bitch about Nintendo. When I got rid of my 360, I didn't miss it at all. I really couldn't care less. They couldn't even sell me a Star Wars bundle. It's harder with Nintendo. After Sega went third party, I got myself all revved up for the GameCube and GBA. Nintendo was the last real gaming company, and I really felt I needed to support them. This was the time where I picked this username for basically every site on the internet too. But, to tie some of these post strings together, after Pikmin, they fell off a cliff. All originality went out the door. And then they followed up what was basically a portable 16-bit era in the GBA, with the fucking DS, which drew very few games I cared about. And then came the grossly underpowered Wii and Wii U. So, yes, I bitch, because there is so much wasted potential.
