I wasn't expecting a reasonable explanation for the lack of Ice Climbers, but I got one. I'm cool with it. A modified, single climber would be neat as DLC, too.
I shouldn't be surprised given all of the other lamentations of the 3DS Sakurai had made, but this thing CHEWS up batteries.
1 hour of play on my fully charged XL brought it to 50%.
Sounds like its squeezing every single last drop of processing power out of the 3DS.
It really is, I appreciate them "Coding to the metal", but I just wish it wasn't at the expense of the Wii U version.
Which again, I don't blame them for focusing on this one since the Wii U is selling like shit.
Why do you say it's at the expense of the Wii U version?
You've got it backwards. When the decision to make a 3DS version (and pull out all the stops for it, and hamstring the Wii U version so as not to outshine it) was made, the Wii U wasn't even out yet, they probably assumed it would do great, and it was the 3DS that appeared to be in danger of failing. Remember, the dark days before the price cut? THAT'S what motivated this. But now jump ahead a few years, the 3DS is doing fine, it's the Wii U that needs saving, and Smash Bros. is just the game to do it... but people can just get it on their 3DS instead.
Ice Climbers, Transforming Characters a few other things that the 3DS couldn't handle.
So this came out today? Visited three different places and didn't see it.
