After each gp race, after the race results you'll see your star count in the upper left corner, push the plus button to add the star you earned from that race. I just now figured this shit out myself

That's not what that's for. That star counter is to favorite race recaps. You can save up to 6 that won't be over written with a new race.

Thanks, I figured it wasn't that after I did another set of races and it didn't reset. I haven't played MKart since the 64 days, so I have no clue about half this crap.
