Godzilla (2014)

I'm calling new Godzilla "Chubs" from now on.

Anyway it kinda looks like it's taking a bit of visual cues from the 1998 Godzilla (and I personally liked that design) in the head area and he looks a bit thicker but for the most part it looks pretty faithful and I can dig it. Some of the other pics Berringer posted also seem reminiscent of the 98' film like seeing the back spikes protrude out of the water and seeing Godzilla out the window in the rain but they still look cool.

I dunno though, I just hope this thing is good.

I don't think this is going to be nearly as good (and will have a boring white-guy protagonist NO DOUBT), but I am contractually obligated to love every Godzilla movie.

There was a fan design that made him look like even more of a fat ass and there's no way this thing is going to move a couple of feet at a time but it looks kind of cool in certain spots:

No doubt. I've said it before and I'll say it again: you'll never find no slant-eye as a lead in no Hollywood movie unless he's a kung-fu master or the bad guy.

It's amazing to me how far other minorities have come in the entertainment field, but Asians are, for the most part, usually still treated as one-note joke characters. Fuck, Ted was on cable the other day and it was the scene where they're partying with Flash Gordon and the uppity Asian neighbor comes in with his silly accent and a knife in one hand and a duck in the other screaming "YOU MAKE NOISE, I TRY MAKE DUCK DINNAH, I CALL POR-REESE ON YOU!"

I don't recall any outcry about that scene, but if a big black man had come in toting a watermelon and a bucket of KFC and was all like "YO DAWG, I'S ABOUT TO GIT MAH CRACK ON, MUTHAFAKA" Al Sharpton would have Earth marching on the studio the next day.
