Thread: 2013 NFL Season.

  1. I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.

  2. I'm kind of concerned with the whole "rushing QB" thing that's been on the upswing. I know coaches love to see Kaepernick and Newton rush for first downs and TDs on busted plays or when no one is open, but RG3 is a good example of the danger. One bad hit to the knee and you not only lose that great rusher, you lose your entire passing game. Vick and RG3 both ended up hurt because of it, and I don't know how wise it is to risk your entire passing offense on it. If I were a coach, I would shit my pants every time my franchise QB took off.

  3. Good point, there is more evidence that being a "rushing" qb makes it harder to become a long term success in the nfl then being considered egotistical or arrogant. Most successful QBs are arrogant (overly confident in there abilities) otherwise they would dwell on their mistakes too often

Kaepernick did not rush all that much this year. The read option wasn't a big thing in the SF offense.

I feel like Vick used to just try to take off whenever he didn't see an open man, so he got killed over the years. CK doesn't do that.

That may be because Vick's defense didn't win every game for him. There is zero pressure on a QB whose defense is holding teams to 14.4, 15.1, and 17.0 PPG like Wilson's, Newton's, and Kaepernick's. You can't (rightfully) claim that Eli got handed rings by his defense and then give credit to these guys for winning games, when it's really their defenses too.

edit: And it's more than points. Those defenses also took the ball away 39, 30, and 30 times respectively. The GMs and coaches deserve a lot of credit for building those teams the right way, but the QBs sure as hell don't.

When did I give Kaepernick any "credit"? I spent two sentences describing how the 49ers played offense this year.

They handed off to Gore and threw to Davis and Boldin when they were open by five yards. That was the SF offense. Interestingly enough, the New Orleans defense was good statistically too. The top four PPG defenses in the NFC are the last four teams standing. That's why I said last weekend that when Cincinnati lost the NFC won the Super Bowl. When there are no complete teams, I'd rather have a good defense than a good offense.

Now you understand Type Ryan, when you went off the rails and talked ad nauseum about Eli.

  9. Type Ryan was the one who insisted Eli was some sort of awesome QB that got his team Super Bowls and earned the right to act like a child at the draft.

You know my opinion of Eli, but it was that douchebag Archie that told the Chargers his son wouldn't play for them. I'm not even sure Eli got any input to the decision.
