You exaggerate. Passing knowledge would be people that only know of ww2 via 'histories mysteries' and the movie Pearl Harbor.
It was a general 'you.' You ladies can unbunch your bloomers. The statement isn't incorrect, generally. I could go out and probably ask 100 people if they knew what ww2 was, what the nazi's were and who Leni Riefenstahl and most people wouldn't know the third. Asking anyone under 30 would be easy mode. Beginner if I go to Walmart.
you guys...
"there are cool and/or historic movies to talk about but I'm going to get upset about a sentence that probably isn't even directed at me"
you know, I had typed up something smartasstastic, but then I realized that you probably think I was implying that the film itself was obscure when compared to other nazi propaganda films of that same decade.
I wasn't.
It was just a general statement about the average viewer. Thats all. Something about how critics like Ebert talk about it like was one of the most evil movies ever made, but I'd be impressed if most 20 somethings had even heard of it.
Well, excluding all of you fine educated gentlemen that are refined and informed.
2. I have my doubts it is the most famous propaganda film. The funny thing about propaganda is you don't see 99.9% of it for what it is. I'm sure the most famous one is something like a Disney movie about princesses.
One day I will get you to admit that maybe, just maybe, you're wrong about something. Then I will consume your humility and make your unholy power my own.
I will admit that it was an unfortunate comment given that you're all easily offended and people that have any interest in this thread would have known of one or both of the movies posted in that comment. Making a throw away statement rather odd, when no such people would see it.
I probably should have known better.

You can go ask 100 people who the Vice President is and most of them wouldn't know the answer. Doesn't mean it isn't common knowledge.
Triumph of the Will is easily one of the most famous films ever made.Originally Posted by Fe 26

It's not at all obscure, or unknown, or under-the-radar. It's super-famous and enormously influential.
