Because the sequel to the film version of American Psycho turned out so well. Patrick Bateman didn't give a shit about anything other than himself (and even then in the most superficial possible way). He wouldn't be interested in "social experiments" or training a protege, and that's assuming he murdered anyone at all, since the movie heavily implies that everything was happening in his head.

euhhhhh this is frustrating because Bret Easton Ellis basically killed off Patrick Bateman in Lunar Park, and it made complete sense in his universe of works. The article doesn't even mention BEE being involved, which is really sketchy. It sounds like they are picking up on some stupid Dexter-ish storyline...which is a complete insult to the character as well as the point of the novel and movie. Yeah, I'm a huge BEE fan and this pisses me off.
