Thread: Eurogamer's Games of the Generation

  1. Volgarr isn't a classic though. It failed when it decided to have shitty controls in 2013.

And Super Meat Boy doesn't even natively support controllers. This is my point about those games. There is always a "yeah but" that puts them behind scores of the genuine articles.

    Yes it does.

The 360 controller and its d-pad don't count, and IIRC, it didn't even support that originally.

There are DS3 drivers that emulate the 360 pad. I go back and forth depending on the type of game. Volgarr and SMB are definitely DS3 games.

This is nitpicking at its most obnoxious.

SMB and Volgarr are both outstanding games. Good as anything that came out in the golden era of 2D gaming.

2D games require Saturn pads. It annoys me to no end that even major publishers like Capcom have fucked this up (twice) recently.

Yeah, there's nothing wrong with Volgarr's controls.

I haven't played Volgarr, but there is absolutely no way Super Meat Boy is as good as the best vintage platformers as a complete package.
