Thread: X-Men: Days of Future Past

  1. Luckily he is a super-hacker.

People sure used the term DNA a lot for a movie based in the 70s.

  2. I don't think it was hacking/reprogramming; he was bonding the metal to them so he could just control them like puppets. The commands and stuff he gave later just being theatrics for what he was letting them do. Or maybe he was hacking them in which case none of that made any sense. I could see it going either way.

I liked how they captured the comic book essence of Magneto's powers varying wildly in ability from one minute to the next.

I'm pretty sure this is what he was doing as well. After all, at one point when he wasn't concentrating he lost control of that one Sentinel and had to rip it apart to save his own ass.

  4. That's fine, except he talks to one of them and the UI responds. The movie sure didn't feel like being consistent about it.

  5. It's not a big deal or a make-or break thing, but the time travel 'rules' were pretty dumb too.

That's true of most time travel rules in movies.

  7. Obviously. We're talking about how dumb this movie was, though. <3

(It wasn't even a horrible movie, just a bunch of really stupid stuff in there)

He just released his hold on the metal in it.

Edit: Just because he didn't end up doing anything doesn't mean they didn't think he might be useful.

  9. Saw it and liked it as much as I can like a "let's go to the past to save the future" movie - which I've absolutely had enough of in film. I don't know why nearly every sci-fi series eventually resorts to this and with the wealth of the catalog of X-Men stories from which to choose, I don't know why they chose this one.

I enjoyed Cap 2 and Spiderman 2 more than this.

  10. I agree with that.

Funny how the two images everybody knows from DoFP the comic are a) the wall full of slain/apprehended wanted posters and b) wolverine getting atomized, and neither is represented. You just get the vague outline of the story.

Same with God Loves / Man Kills and X-Men 2, I guess.
