Thread: The Official Super Mario Sunshine Thread

  1. The GC Analog stick is the smoothest of all the official Console pads. Its like silk.
    Barf! Barf! Barf!

The analog stick makes aiming FLUDD painless, and controlling Mario couldn't be any easier.

  3. I like the 64 pad fine, and hate the GC pad. The GC pad is fucking tiny, and sucks. The water shit is what controls bad, so anyone saying it controls the same fucking ignored what I said, but still responded. I said the right analog should have aimed, then it would've been fine. Well, as fine as it can be with the shitty pad.

And Destro... whatever. I and my momz, my cousin, and 2 of my friends who all ARE into gaming, and who all (except 1 friend) liked SM64, all hated SMS. I don't care if I'm the onlyone on the board who's right, it won't be the 1st time everyone is wrong but me.

The only one on the board? RIIIIGHT....

The GC controller is worlds better then that over sized baboon handed light flimsy P.O.S controller on the N64...

And again, the FLUDD controls very easily...

Well... I fogot the name of that other fella who dissed SMS, so I didn't count 'im.

Hmmm... D-pad.... worse on GC, is it just GBA d-pad? Button placement.... wonky, uneven, looks gay on GC. N64 buttons placed like a normal controller in actual rows. And WTF is up with only a right trigger? Fuck lefty's? I like (sic, I know) symmytry on my sholder buttons damnit. The analog is no smother or easier to use than any of the current controllers. Infact, I'd say the evil Dual Shock 2 has 10x better analog than the GC pad. And wtf is up with not being able to use the analog sticks as buttons? This feature has saved a lot of potentially shitty controls on XB and PS2, and was stupid to leave out. Face it, the GC pad is shit.

No, it doesn't. And like I said, when I played it, I had no problems doing anything, it just wasn't fun, due to the controls. I love how the mob thinks when they deem a control set up good like SMS, it 'must' be good, and I'm wrong to diss it, and when you guys deem a great control scheme like in RE or Tomb Raider 'shit' it must be shit.

  6. Maybe I missed some posts, but it seems like 50 people here are freaking out because EThugg, Rose, and myself stated that we didn't like the way the game controlled. I've realized that the game controls just fine, its just the camera that blows, so that drops the list down to about 50 people that love the game and the controls, 2 people that hate the game and its controls, and one person who is undecided on it (myself).

Stop freakin' out people and go back to plaing the game. If EThugg hates the way it controls, let him go play his Shaq-Fu or Bruce Lee or whatever, and you can enjoy the Sunshine

I think my friend is addicted to the game. He keeps mumbling about how many Shines he has...

  7. Just beat it tonight, and I have 80 Shines. Some thoughts:

The controls are damn near perfect. The Fludd couldn't control any better. My only qualm is with the jumps, as Yoshi noted a long while ago. Spin jumps and somersaults are inconsistent (or maybe just not forgiving enough). And the gate-flipping mechanics are confusing.

The camera isn't perfect, but it's really good. The C-Stick is a really intuitive way of controlling the camera, and it rarely gets stuck. Even when it does, you can still press L to recenter it or take a look in first-person.

The challenge is high and sometimes frustrating, but it always makes you want to come back for more. Even during tough boss battles, though, I was still having a blast. I don't think I've ever experienced anything like the Manta Storm in a game before. Except maybe in Mars Matrix. I think people are too used to having things handed to them in 3D platformers, and this game doesn't give you many freebies. I'd say the difficulty is comparable to Banjo-Tooie, but that's not considering the hidden Shines.

  8. 40 shines and counting, still having a great time . Love my Wavebird too.

  9. I am confused by what you mean by Gate Flipping mechanics Burgundy? Do you mean the Cage Doors? Or do you mean on the Pianna Park (amusment park) the Cage doors that open when you spray water at them?

EThugg, the Gamecube controller has a Left Trigger. Do you mean Z button? And EThugg like you should be one to talk when people tell you your wrong about something. Considering thats all you have ever done on these boards is yelled at people about the errors of their judgment in your eyes.

Those cage doors are irritating(I assume that's what burgundy's talking about). Having to use two different buttons feels unnatural. Not that it's a big deal.
