I made no comment on the game's merits or lack thereof. I solely commented on those who would list it.

So much this. I could've forgiven Edward As Dante and the trying-too-hard "edgy" tone if the underlying gameplay felt right, but of course it didn't, this is Ninja Theory we're talking about. Oh, but I'm not sure Capcom could still get it right either, they'd probably need to farm it out to Platinum. (That is after all where all the talent behind DMC3 is at this point, right?)

Eh, DMC4 was a little better so I don't really care. As for who worked on what part I don't think it matters too much anyway, as they've lost too much of what they had. Nevertheless, I do feel that they still have the potential to pull something good off, especially because most of their best gameplay elements are often hidden ways of slightly breaking the game which Japan seems to still do best. DmC's best attempt at that was copy-pasting DMC4's jump-cancelling.

The combat certainly has an undeniable clunkiness to it that gets in its own way, they tried to mash everything together by combining buttons and such and the devil trigger aspect in particular was the most disappointing aspect. But despite all that I liked being able to fluidly string together all the weapons combos so that was good, they just need to have a better separation of systems which is why I'd love to see a sequel to refine this.

The end battle with Vergil kind of disappointed me too as I preferred the DMC3 battles more but still, lots of potential.

This would probably be ideal if they want to move away from Ninja Theory but I think they're too proud to do that.

They need to look at the basic moves from the series and ask themselves why things are the way they are. Why does the stinger move require double-tabbing the analog stick (which is never a good thing with full circular movement) in DmC when no other game in the series has it that way? Yes, the technical answer is because of the way they mapped the weapons, but much like the devil bringer there's a ton of redundant button presses that literally do nothing which could be stripped from the game and have the entire process streamlined.

I probably sound too hard on the game, as it is a good action game in and of itself. It's just that gameplay-wise it's so much a direct copy of DMC4 just with extra complexity only for the sake of having extra complexity.

If you mean Edward the vampire from Twilight, I don't see how the 2 characters are at all similar. They don't even look alike, aside from both of them having short hair and light skin.

  8. They aren't. I had forgotten about that stupid attempt at a joke from when they unveiled the new Dante, which is why I glossed over him saying that.

Maybe not, but they could have someone redraw the sprites and release it on XBLA.

  10. This is a pipe-dream but it'd be awesome if Epic would make a next gen sequel to:

    Unreal Championship 2

Such an awesome game that didn't get enough love. Wanting a proper Unreal Tournament is a given, but this one definitely fell through the cracks.
