Great transfers from Technicolor's heyday (~1935-1955) make for excellent showpieces. Layered strips of dyed stock required ultra strong studio lighting to expose, so you have a color spectrum that favors primaries + bright lights = crazy saturated Wizard of Oz look. It's something to behold in 1080p. I can't vouch for Oz's blu ray, but I can for:
The Red Shoes
Black Narcissus
Gone with the Wind (this was the first BR that dropped my jaw, though WB is too vigilant in eliminating film grain)
Gentlemen Prefer Blondes
