Sega started to turn things around after the 3D titles. Virtual On, Fantasy Zone, Treasure Box, Monster World, PS remakes all had merit. And yeah they were Japan only.

  3. I like logging in to Steam and there's a bunch of shit from I Don't Know Where on my games list. Thanks TNL?

Some of the Sega Ages games were polygonal remakes that are barely worth mentioning, and some were collections of the old Genesis games in HD. We got a handful thrown together as both the Sega Classics Collection and Sonic's Personal Library of Genesis Titles That He Feels Are Worth Playing. Stuff like Alien Soldier and the Monster World series (which we would get some of as DD) is still missing, though, so it's not all-inclusive.

To be fair, sonic did put together a pretty good mix tape.

  6. Finally upgraded my PS3 HDD to a 1TB, so tired of constantly cleaning out and rearranging the fridge for new PSN purchases and PS+ stuff. Those Sony 1st party downloads were just totally out of the question on the ol' 160GB one, the file sizes are already bloated enough as-is, then you need twice the space to actually install 'em. Will buy that $10 GOW Ascension they've got going now as a sort of celebration.

Grabbed Tearaway yesterday for $20, and some cheap Blu-rays this morning:
Warner Bros triple features: Matrix Trilogy, LOTR Trilogy, and Beetlejuice/Charlie and the Chocolate Factory/Corpse Bride for $6.88 each
    Predator 3D(!) for $15(!!)

That Predator surprised me. I'd buy the hell out of 3D conversions of classic shit like that for reasonable prices, hope it's the start of a trend.

  7. While looking for videos of the Sega Ages stuff it got me thinking: which YouTube gaming channels do TNL members think are worth watching/subscribing to?

  8. We picked up an LG Washer/Dryer set for about half the price from an appliance shop on Mission Street! Working great so far, no Mexican Magical Realism yet.

Not having to go to the laundromat = A++++

They're mostly horrible so you might actually enjoy quite a few.

Game Sack could be great if Joe wasn't a stubborn, close-minded Sega fanboy and if Dave wasn't such a goon. It's actually still really good despite that, ha.

strafefox makes Splash Wave, which I highly recommend (even if it's European).

couryc does the My Life in Gaming videos that are pretty good. I'm not a huge fan of the fake VHS joke walkthroughs, though!

Happy Video Game Nerd has reviewed some pretty great games but has a stupid voice, face, and his drinking wine shit is dumb. All he does now is stream live because I assume it is incredibly less work and somehow more popular despite being shit.

Classic Game Room is cool and I love the host, even if he sucks at games. He just left Youtube over the bullshit going on and started www.classicgameroom.com

Chrontendo is cool and Chronturbo is OK, but don't listen to Dr. Sparkle talk about Sega unless you want your face to melt off from all the Nintendo fanboy bias.

Rinrygamegame is a girl who actually really plays good games, is good at them, and holds informed opinions. Too bad she can't stop having babies and putting the channel on hold.

Two Best Friends Play is one of the few "watch people play games" shows I can stomach because it's heavily edited down to just the good parts, a technique 99% of the people out there should incorporate.

Everything else is just indescribable shit. I'm sure there are some good dudes that are worth watching getting like 90 views a year that I haven't found yet.

EDIT: Maybe this should be a separate thread
