I just want to know if Elsa was a mutant with inherited powers from her dad or if she was cursed out of the blue (but they had a whole book / gameplan for what to do with her?).
They've been working frozen since like the 40s
I have a Rubik's Cube from some Siggraph or another that has the Disney Toy Story 3, American Dog, Chicken Little and Rapunzel Unbraided on it, I should dig that out. It's like the Troubled Disney Movie Puzzle Box.

I can see how some would think it had pacing issues but I didn't really feel that it did. I never felt bored or lost and only the rock people love song really felt extraneous to me.
I saw it with my kids and we enjoyed it. That is, until they started bickering about pacing and character development. Kimberly was all like "but there's no clear and believable connection between Anna and Kristoff!" and Emily was all "you're missing the point about siblings reconnecting right when their countrymen need them the most!" and Kimberly shot back with "no, the conflict is clearly existential, and Elsa's identity issues are compounded by her sister's freedom and ignorance!" Then Emily countered with "you forget how Olaf's quiet symbolism plays off the inter-character dynamic!"
Yeah, Disney definitely missed the mark.

And then Kimberly started ranting about how Elsa's powers are actually a representation of the repression of homosexuality and then the rest of the ride back was nothing but throwing toys at each other and screaming.
I'd watch a show of that. That's kind of what stewie and Brian are now on fg
The problem with the pacing was the first 15-30 minutes, everything after that was okay.
Because the songs were narrative and moved the story forward, they did very little to flesh out the characters, which is what often happened in Disney songs.
It's unlike Disney to throw curveballs like Prince whatshisname. Seemed strange for a kids movie, I'm really curious if any kids were put off or confused by that. But I've never seen it mentioned, so maybe it's just me.
I enjoyed the movie, but it's very different than the usual.
