Thread: Official Thread of Michael Pachter Predictions

  1. Off the top of my head, Supreme Commander, Jam Sessions, Spectrobes, and Luminous Arc all had sequels.

    ok. I'll update that.

  3. Hotel Dusk got a sequel (though it wasn't released in the US you can find UK copies on Amazon).

  4. Pachter called it right, on MS needing to decouple the Kinect from the Xbone.

“But I think that you will probably get in 2015 a redesigned Xbox One that has no Kinect, and I think what will accelerate that process is if Sony cuts the PS4’s price: if there is a $349 PS4 on the market, Microsoft has a real problem. They’re gonna have to do something, and they’ll have to do it really quickly. I think that in 2015, you might see a $349 PS4, and an uncoupled Xbox One, and if you see both of those for $349, the consumer wins, and they will both sell very well. Microsoft is not looking to lose this cycle.”

  5. I can't really give that one to Pachter, though. Everyone everywhere called de-coupling the Kinect.

E3 Assumptions (as opposed to predictions):

    Microsoft

    Sony

    I believe Nintendo is tomorrow.

  8. I think he's going to be off on the Microsoft one, they're going to show a higher ratio of games than he's predicting.

Circling back to one of the earlier predictions in this thread, Tegra K1 tablets have almost caught the 360/PS3.

  10. It doesn't even matter at this point. Nobody is gonna write a game to take advantage of this hardware unless Nvidia writes checks, and Nvidia can't write enough checks. I'm not gonna buy a Nvidia to play ancient games like Trine 2 and Half-Life 2. The vast majority of games will target the median hardware.
