Oh... I probably misremembered something you said (or didn't say) years ago. Somebody here loves it. Finch?

    Definitely not Finch.

  3. I've chatted it up. Maybe even really like it. ... Heck, maybe I do love it. Can't tell anymore. Estelle is cute. I'll say that much.

  4. nier is the second coming of jrpgs... until Bravely Default or maybe Drakengard 3 (WHAT A WORLD)

  5. oh... Drakengard 3 probably isn't a jrpg...

last story was the 2nd coming, it's already over
but Bravely Default is next and is probably more in line with what people expect from jrpgs

Ni no Kuni was that time Jesus pooped on a tortilla and people thought he was making burritos from dirt

neir is too flawed to be the second coming. It did a lot of things right that the past two generation's of jrpgs had gotten wrong, however.

along with everything great that you got, you also had shit like bland map design, small map design, simple or repetitive battle systems, and repetitive enemy encounters.

  7. Nier is a Zelda anyway, and it's not even that good, but somehow it's fantastic

  8. and while the battle system isn't dark souls or even 3D Zelda, there's enough to keep it interesting. It becomes more and more addictive to slice through crowds of shades and OH NO WHAT AM I BECOMING META-GAME
Anyway, the kind of simple battle system isn't a good complaint and I keep reading it. It's nothing complicated, but it's not brainless and it works perfectly well for the game.
    Donk

  9. I'm playing through Castlevania: Lords of Shadow right now; trying to catch up before the sequel is released in February. I'm at the end of Chapter 3 right now, and I can't shake the feeling that I'm not "playing the right way." For some reason, the combat seems a bit unnecessarily difficult. I am making progress in the game, but it's in between frustrating moments of getting my ass handed to me over and over again.

It's not an easy game, if you're playing on the initial hardest difficulty. Paladin is even worse, but I likely won't have/take time to beat the PC version twice, so I'll probably never see it again, unless I cheat somehow to unlock it.

Saints Row: The Third (PC) - I'm not sure what made me install this after all this time, but I'm glad I did. It's a huge improvement over 2. The general theme is still terrible, but I really like the combat and driving. Once GTAV is released on a platform that can actually handle it, I hope I find it to be a mix of GTA's story and music, Saints Row's combat, and Sleeping Dog's visuals.
