Too seriously? Most of Season 5 was ridiculous fluff like Hank becoming a coked up Batman while his dad infiltrates a zombie commune...and the one where Doc makes friends with a fictional talking animatronic bear while Hank, 21, and Dermott get themselves committed to an Arkham-like asylum. And the one where they go to a Greek island for a made-up holiday because Doc was kidnapped as a kid 40 years ago.

It has its "Lore Moments" but VB is as ludicrous as it's always been.

It wasn't about it being ludicrous, it was a tongue in cheek parody/satire, and that was damn funny. Then the writers bought into their own hype and it became an over the top show, which for me, has been WAY less interesting. I tried to get into last season, and the episodes did nothing for me. I think I got 2 episodes in and just stopped caring.

Season 3 killed Venture Brothers for me. Two was on the bubble honestly, and most of it doesn't hold up. The first one was good. All the lore stuff combined with the terrible newer characters killed it for me.

There seemed to be a marathon of this last night on AS.
I laughed at times as I was falling asleep, but what is up with saying the person's name with every line?
That and doc's cough/clearing throat noise annoyed me.

Roiland says that that he uses the name repeating as a verbal crutch. He said he'd tone it down in later episodes. Even still, I didn't find it that annoying. I actually thought it really puts an ID stamp on the way they do dialog. Since both Rick and Morty are voiced by the same guy, you really get the sense that some of these recording sessions were just Roiland talking to himself off the cuff and going with some of the funnier ones.
