  2. I picked it up today and tonight I acquire a large amount of bananas while you guys cry about people picking on Nintendo

  3. You pick up every game.

Okay, so I actually looked on Metacritic to see what the ranking was for each Assassin's Creed game. You know what? It's almost perfectly in line with the relative quality of each entry:
    AC2 - 90
    ACB - 89
    AC4 - 86
    AC3 - 84
    AC1 - 81
    ACR - 80
    ACL - 62

The point that I was making was that Hero is doing exactly what he complained about. You implied that DKC:TF didn't deserve its lower scores, then point to Assassin's Creed as an example of one that doesn't deserve its relatively static (though, as you can see, actually pretty accurate) scores. No. You don't get to do both. And then it's all couched in a statement of "well, they should do one or the other!" as if that excuses you. No.

Meanwhile, if anything, Donkey Kong Country Returns was reviewed by people like Hero. People who looked past the fundamentally broken control scheme - way more broken than anything in any Assassin's Creed. Waggle to roll was unforgivable. DKCR should have gotten, at most, 5/10s across the board for such an awful setup. An essential move of a difficult platformer should never be put on an unreliable mechanism. At least Bioshock Infinite, for all its problems bridging narrative and interactivity, was decent shooter where I didn't have to shake the mouse to use a vigor.

You want to complaint about review inflation? Look at Nintendo games. Look at DKCR. Look at a turd like Spirit Tracks's 87. Or the let's-make-a-stand-for-your-3DS-because-our-control-scheme-is-completely-unworkable Kid Icarus: Uprising's 87. Or the solid 80s scores of each NSMB entry save for the awful 2, which is still sitting at a reasonably respectable 75.

  5. Please, let's talk more about review scores.

  7. I 'beat' World 1. So far I like it. Not as good as the 2D Marios but whatever

  8. I like the longer levels.

  9. This game looks pretty great. The backgrounds and the levels design are a lot more interesting than NSMU. I've played through World 1 so far and I don't see how the game could score any lower than a 8.

Also, this game is already better than the last one because I can use the dpad on the pro controller with no waggle bullshit.

Korly-"Everyone here is an asshole, SURPRISE!"

  10. Staying on topic, who's using d-pad or analog? I normally hate the later in 2d games, but it seems to be nice in this. Can't decide which control scheme to stick to.
