Thread: True Detective

  1. I'm not mad that the shootout was "unrealistic". It was just a typically bad action scene that was straight out of Sons of Anarchy. And it didn't help that the camerawork did its best to obscure anyone's relative location. "It could all be a dream/exaggeration" doesn't fix that.

Oh and the "cautious optimism" i mentioned before was that this season could live up to the first. I'm not outright hating anything so far, the shootout in particular was just immensely disappointing as it was probably supposed to be this seasons answer to the 6-minute tracking shot of s01e04 that blew everyone's mind.

Yeah man. That episode was a chore to watch. Who gives a shit about frank and his horribly acted shit scripted girlfriend? The shoot out was long and graphic but yeah, it doesn't hold a candle to s01ep04. It was like watching a videogame. Headshot headshot gore shot. I dunno man. Kinda juvenile. This whole season has been.

Last season had moments of that too. That fucked up sex didn't really need to happen.

  3. Caught up on this. So yeah the shoutout was pretty terrible. I realize in the context of this show those 3 cops are set up to be scape goats but there's no way some gang bangers just decided to Rambo out. Keeping up with a speeding SUV on foot was pretty retarded too. I enjoy the angle they're taking with Farrell standing up to Vaughn.

Still like it. But it definitely lost the intrigue the first season generated.

  4. Frank moved to the city I live in, neat!

If you bailed on the show because of the shootout last week, then you missed out tonight. Best episode of the season. Shit is developing and things are coming together.

Can't wait to see the standoff between Ray and Frank that was shown in next week's preview.

I liked this episode a lot. All the fucking set up is finally starting to pay off.

There are no rules, only consequences.

  6. MEH. Some shit finally happened, but it's too little too late. Frank's pontification is getting really old, and is easily the most unbelievable part of the show.

This shit should have happened two episodes ago and we wouldn't have been exhausted by the characters yet.

  8. haha i still really like it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  9. me too... I'm interested to see where it ends up.
look here, upon a sig graveyard.

  10. I am not exhausted by the characters (i feel like that entire term is retarded). I really like the direction Farrell's character has taken in the last episode—the betrayal. Not to mention that beatdown of the plastic surgeon was soooo terrific.
