Thread: Ultra-Rare orange Halo Edition Xbox found at a swap meet.

  1. Being rich has as much to do with how much you spend as it does with how much you make.
$150K could go up your nose and out your dick pretty easily over the course of a year.

I make less than $40K a year, and it's still triple what I need.

Somehow the myth that $150K makes you rich is alive and well here.
It doesn't really matter if you consider it rich or not. If halo is someone's jams, like their main hobby or only hobby, and they don't spend extra money on anything else, 15k, while making 150k a year, would not be that weird.

All of us could think of a dozen other things to do with that money, but halo is not our jams.

It sounds dumb, but there are people out there like that. I have a friend at work that went to school with a guy that became a day trader. Dude probably makes at least 120k with bonuses. He is a horrible human being. He pretty much is a Bro American psycho guy. He drives while drunk. He likes to abuse women. He listens to horrible 90s pop and rap music. He hates the poor. And he loves Call of Duty and Halo and Madden. Dude would probably buy this console for 15k if he knew how to use the internet well enough to know it exist.

That's what I'm saying. Live your life with a little restraint and you don't need to work 1/3rd of your life away.

20 full years of your life spent working to make someone else rich.

    eh, you don't have kids.

And some hobbies are expensive. Being self employed is expensive, normally.

But I mostly agree. You shouldn't go into it thinking "I need a lot of money just because and I will let whomever it takes, fuck me in the ass at work, to get it."

Who spends 10% of their pre-tax income on their hobby? I spend less than 1% of mine on games, and that's probably still too much.

  7. If I spent 10% I'd probably still be living at home after Steph kicked my ass out.

I might fall into 1-3%. Most of my purchases lately have been from selling old shit too, or working the gamestop contests.

  8. I'm probably at about 1-2%, but I could spend 60% of my income on games and still be okay.
Other hobbies aren't that cheap, though.
Spending 10% of your income on something you enjoy is hardly a waste.
I know people who drop thousands of dollars a year on guitars and art supplies, and none of them make a living with any of it.

  9. That's like how a friend of mine does it.
He has a cushy gubment job in which he travels all over the city. He stops at every thrift/pawn/what have you and fuels his gaming expenditures with profit from flipping omg rarez.

I would wonder why you work if you are spending less than 10% of your income on enjoying life.
