Thread: Meanwhile, in Missouri...

Organized, respected, guerrilla journalism is the way forwards. We need a Spider Jerusalem.

There are lots of individual people and small movements but no unifying force.

There are no rules, only consequences.

  2. One of the worst things Clinton ever did was allowing the deregulation of media ownership. Once it all got bought up by a few large commercial interests, the last of the old media was dead.

It may have gone this way anyway, with the speed of the internet and the lack of facts of social media, but that eliminate the last respite we might have had from it.

You recan that rich people just sit around and talk about this shit? I mean, do they get together and plot how to take state, fed and /or other regulated things and turn them into commercial businesses?

There sure does seem to be a huge push for it in the us and uk.

I'm a conservative but I find it pretty stupid. The basic foundations of safety and culture should not be tied to the economy. If the deficit has to go up to insure those things, so be it. Because the biggest way you get out of recessions is bright young minds growing up feeling safe and paying attention at school.

Tying stuff like prisons to profit just causes a downward spiral when things get bad.

I wonder how much of this police shit is money related. Where does their pay come from? Where does the money for their training come from? Is there a possibility they are being paid less and receiving cheaper training? Is there a possibility that military style training and gear receives a tax credit or grant and traditional training does not?

I feel like a lot of this shit can come down to following the money and the needs pyramid.

The military gear and training comes from a federal program that gives decommissioned military gear to local police on the condition that they train for it and actually use it. I don't know that there's a profit motive but the requirements to get this "free stuff" encourage misuse.

  8. Yea it's a problem. I mean, there's sort of a justification for some of that stuff in LA or NYC, but they get sent to Podunk nowheres and end up getting used to serve drug warrants. It's insane.

  9. /pol/ is legit weeping because this time cops killed one of their own.

Even in NYC, the idea that they're REQUIRED to use this shit to keep it is ridiculous.

And LA were the originators of using this shit to serve random Drug Warrants. They used modified tanks to literally bust through people's fucking walls, often on nothing more than he-said-she-said to go on. The old hip hop song "Batterram" was about that, but it was real shit that was standard operating procedure at the apex of the crack explosion in the late 80s.
