I loved it.

No, it's not perfect, but this kind of movie making excites me. It feels like Kevin Smith is back on his game, exploring new territory once again. Bizarre territory. The kind of movie I can take friends who aren't that familiar with Kevin Smith to and be just as surprised as them as to what would happen. Not to mention, its comedy (and I honestly was laughing the whole way through) belies its horror; I felt a genuine sense of dread for Justin Long's character that any trailer or one-line description of the movie must make you aware of (before, somewhat cleverly, flashbacks reveal what an asshole he can be) and the practical effects are both campy and terrifying. Somehow. I also hope this isn't the last we see of Johnny Depp's character.

Apatow kind of picked up the Chasing Amy ball and ran with it while Smith doubled down on his bad habits.

Cop Out could've been a decent flick if someone competent was directing it. That's really what bugs me about Smith. He's been in this game forever and it's like he never bothered to learn how to be a good director.

And Cop Out was only bad because Willis wouldn't go out and promote it.
Had he done a few interviews, the movie would have been great.
That's what I heard anyway.
