As has been discussed before, there's always a pill of some ridiculous state that you swallow when reading or watching a fantasy or a sci-fi story to buy into the premise. The big problem usually comes when said story doesn't follow its own rules that it designed for itself.

Mzo is complaining that the Flash ignores what it stated as the way things work. Dude can move super fast except when the plot feels it for no reason. That's a perfectly legitimate complaint and has nothing to do with how serious or campy or cynical the show is. If the Flash wants to introduce a monster that can replicate flesh we're going to swallow that the rules of that world make it acceptable for the monster to form fifteen tits and beat people with them, but if it starts forming machine guns then it's breaking its own rules and stops pretending to have a coherent writer.

I'd still rather watch this show over Arrow.

Barry Allen is a 30-something scientist who was known for his strong moral sense and maturity. Traditionally. He looks like a dad in the '90s show. You can take as many liberties with the subject matter as you want, though; I won't cry over changes as long as what you make is good, but I understand exactly why these changes were made. They could have just called him Wally West instead, IMO, and started off with Barry gone after the Crisis. Then you could do the whole coming into his own, out of his mentor's shadow thing and appeal to the soap opera people.

Speaking of which, all the Arrow cameos and crossovers kind of confuse me. Wait, is Smallville in the same universe? Gotham? I'm assuming Superman doesn't exist in this universe since people wouldn't endlessly be talking about "the impossible" in a world with a superhero alien flying around.

Oh, and the Streak is definitely a poop stain. The impossible the impossible the impossible the impossible.

The latest episode voiced and addressed all my questions about black detective re-opening Barry's case! That was good.

I don't understand how Barry got hit sparring at super speed with a metal robot dummy. Did he stand still for his equivalent of half an hour while punching? I also don't understand how the steel guy keeps hitting Barry. Wait, why did he hang on to that pole? LOL!

Remember that bully scene from Spider-Man? Do you guys think the Flash is faster or slower than that?

Do those super villain cells have toilets in them? Is Star Labs feeding and caring for them?

Also, how do you get inside Star Labs? Do they have a front door? A receptionist? Security? Do they at least need an ID badge or a door code? I think it's just a revolving door outside some shit-ruined building.

I live for the evil(?) mastermind wheelchair guy end of episode scenes. The best.

I agree with SSJN regarding having a dumb, fun show that isn't fully stupid. Dare to dream. I would also appreciate it if people would stop deflecting criticisms with name calling and references to other shows. If I'm wrong, tell me why. "You notice what happens on the screen too much" is not a valid response, IMO.

I just assumed going lightning fast has limits v. other super humans and that's why he gets hit.

They're very clear in (some) episodes that he has to intentionally use it, it's not just an always-on thing. No Spider-sense, so he can get blindsided and sucker-punched. It's not perfect, but it's the narrative compromise the show goes with.
