Here's the thing. I think Wells is a reverse flash, we saw him do the voice thing at the end. Comic fans know Thawne is a last name of one of the Reverse Flash, the other being Hunter Zolomon, which I think Wells is based on.
All of that screams Wells aside from the insanity.Hunter Zolomon is Zoom, a speedster super-villain and enemy to the Flash who became the third Reverse-Flash. Originally working as a metahuman profiler for the KCPD, he was crippled by Gorilla Grodd and gained powers through an accident with the Cosmic Treadmill. Zolomon lost his mind and dedicated his life to making former friend Wally West a better hero through tragedy.
The RF we saw was probably Thawne's decendant. Wells specifically called Eddie by his last name so that RF wouldn't hurt him, as noticed when he killed all of his task force but him.
This kind of throws a wrench in that though. Zolomon looks like Thawne.
The Tachyon field was the only place wells wouldn't heal form when getting his shit kicked in, so that's why he was dragged into there.
So long story short. Wells is Zolomon, RF in suit was Eobard Thawn, or Future Eddie maybe.

That makes sense, I could see Wells as Zoom. I definitely think there's more to it then the reveal at the end for sure. I'm 100% certain that Eddie is going to go evil and end up being RF though. They've spent far too much time making him a nice likeable guy while having him date Iris which we know can't last. The heel turn is undoubtedly coming there.

Makes sense that Eddie (or his son) will turn bad considering Flash revealed his love to Iris.

All of what Chux has posted totally makes sense. Except I don't think Zolomon came from the future, which Wells definitely does. Though like you said could be based on him and not directly him. If the RF we saw is Eddie, or one of his descendants I think he and Wells are working together. I wish the reveal at the end just gave us a LITTLE bit more, specially with 6 weeks or so till the next episode.
Nah, Zolomon doesn't come from the future, but he has "Personal Time Manipulation" in the comics. After Cisco said that there was yellow lightning(Barry) and red lightning (Reverse) during the fights, which goes in line with what Barry saw as a child we know that Time Travel exists in the Flash TV series. I just wish I knew the rules of time travel for the "DCTV Universe" because it seems like coming into contact with yourself doesn't create a paradox.
