so what do y'all think of Halo's revamped visuals versus the original mode? I think the revamped version looks good at times, but it's super inconsistent and I'm probably just best off sticking to the original. Doesn't help that the revamp has significantly more sub-60fps moments.

From what I've seen Halo is the blandest of the series in that regard, yeah.

There was a part in the 2nd level where I was tooling around in a warthog and ended up going sideways on an invisible wall. Switched to classic and saw the geometry was different. WTF!

It's true. The warthog's physics and controls are amazing.

60fps on these games is really awesome. All re-releases should be like this!

Most people just don't understand the warthog physics in the older games. In CE, it's much more stable while spinning, so you can jump off cliffs and land right way up every time as long as you have that angular momentum.
