Thread: Neill Blomkamp's Alien Sequel

  1. Hicks looks kinda bored, and Ripley appears confused by her steamy breath.

  3. Unless they're already signed it looks like Blompkamp's trying to attract Biehn and Weaver back to the franchise with cool concept art.

I'd still be down with having both actors return and have Alien 3/Resurrection be bad dreams Ripley had in hyper sleep. I also think Fox should tie the Prometheus and Alien movies together through David, I know not a lot of people were crazy about Prometheus but if a Prometheus 2 happens it could kind of bridge the worlds together by having it's developments include David screwing over Shaw again, acquiring a biomechanical body from engineer technology, inheriting the Weyland's company, and bringing back one of the ships from the engineer homeworld which could tie in with some of the concept art for Blompkamp's movie.

  4. I'm still cool with three staying three and everything after dropping off the face of the planet.

  5. As much as I liked 3 (particularly the alternate cut in the Quadrilogy) it's opening premise had continuity issues and flawed logic to get to the planet which I don't think should be honored.

It had some interesting themes and the no weapons approach to fighting the alien was cool but making it a nightmare would make the most sense at this point if they go ahead with this other movie.

  6. Agreed.

One of the old 3 scripts (the William Gibson one I think) floated the notion that Bishop had done some shady egg dealings while Ripley was out getting Newt back. So the folks who hate 3 could hate it even more if that was true, which I'm also ok with.

I think that would have made a little more sense, granted it would undermine Bishop's arc of proving himself to be a trustworthy android but he was shown to be very curious of the facehugger physiology.

I'd say more cute than hot.

  10. Adorable, actually.
