I just don't understand why it isn't .5 seconds. There is no risk involved; you're never in a situation where the delay forces you to make a meaningful decision between gathering, running, or fighting. It's just waste. So much waste.

That's the entire foundation of the very awesome Jhen/Dharen Moran and to a lesser extent Dalamadur fights. Shows up a bit in Gogmazios, too. You can carve Gypceros when he's playing dead, but you have to beware his powerful wake-up attack.

I get where you're coming from, but they do use it from time to time. I'd say the real reason it's there is because communicating the "hunting life" has been an objective of the series, with it never being more obvious than Unite's intro. To let you gather in a half second when EVERY other action in the game has weight would be dissonant. That said, over 4 seconds is overkill.




But what you really need to do is truly inhabit your character. Feel the dirt between your fingers and the softness of the ground under your knees! You are so "To One With Life" right now! Breathe the air - thick with the musk of Jaggi droppings - deep down in your lungs. Ahhhh...

Oh, look. We got some honey. Now do it five more times in a row.

Hold the button to gather without the hunter getting up. Its a qol improvement. Its faster than speed gathering. Works for mining and carving.

Okay, yeah, that is neat. After your first roughtly 4 second gather, the followups are all around 2 seconds.

So, the game makes 4 towns available right from the start (pretty much). With quest rewards and shop selection variety, you can pretty much avoid having to do gathering quests for the first few hours at all. Nice! I haven't unlocked three-star quests yet, even though I've done all the quests in the Dunes that the quest gal keeps hinting that I should do.

I've tried out three weapons so far with three different styles for each. Dual Blades with Adept Style works pretty nice cause the evades you get fill up your demon gauge. Hammer with Aerial Style is great fun because you get to jump in the air and hit things in the head. And then Gunlance with either Striker or possibly Aerial seems to work best.

Adept hammer is my goto. That strong charge is great. Aerial swaxe is better than IG to me. It hits gioing up and coming down with a burst is badass.
Charge blade has lost some of its charm. Its still awesome. But the arts suck and it feels wierd without the wave.
Adept bow is god tier.

Also it seems almost all of the Anime crossover stuff from japan made it over. Including the pirate j armor and weapons. All of them. I know fairy tail is in there. And so is the dark magician palicoe armor. I did a search and someone did a crossreference. And it seems only 5 special tickets didnt make it in to gen. Everything else was translated. Even that pizza hut(?) charge blade.

i havnt really kept up with it. i just use what i use. seems like a mix of p3rd and 4u. you can specify to look for cats with looks or skills. instead of it just being random.

And yes, that is a qol improvement in this iteration. you really see the speed at which you gather when mining. super quick compared to before.
im still wrapping my head around the weapon upgrade system. i think i got it down. but its weird. you need the specific mats to start the upgrade. than you use what ever mats you have that are required for the upgrade process.

The Capcom-and-Nintendo-character-themed DLC is keeping it lively. I've switched back to charge blade for the time being, and alternate between that and assist prowler.
