Woah, Escape from New York was GREAT. And then it spawned metal gear, which was was also great!
Quality. Box office means nothing.

I thought the Colin Farrell Fright Night was good, probably about on par with the original actually.
The only other 80's properties that I thought were legit updated were 21 Jump Street and the A-Team but those were from TV shows. Robocop is certainly watchable and is a lot stronger in Murphy's character development than the original but it suffered from scrubby looking morally grey villains. I've never seen the 2013 Evil Dead so I'm unsure about that one's quality but that one seemed to have a mixed reception.
The worst offense about these remakes are that they're lifeless and devoid of heart. Sadly a good remake is an exception to the rule so like every other 80's kid I keep wondering to myself why they keep making them.

I hope James Hong and Kim Cattrall reprise their roles.

I hope you die in a fire for that Hong comment. The only way this movie will be watchable is if he is Lo Pan. No one else is pulling off that role and that fact that he is old only makes it better since the character is couple thousand years old.
This definitely isn't a movie that needs to be remade, but I hate to admit that The Rock actually has the right kind of charisma to be a suitable replacement for Kurt Russell. Now, the real question is, will Sean William Scott be cast as the sidekick?
Like Mog said: if the Rock plays Burton as the original did, he will be the sidekick.
I'm not a devious man by nature... but when you're unarmed, your tactics might gonna be downright Archimedean.
