Thread: TNL Gentlemen's Laserdisc Society

  1. Only true ballers have the turbografx module.
I am not a true baller.
One of my gaming regrets from way, way back (prolly late 90s) is someone in the digital press community found a place that was blowing out LD Roms for $20 new. Never thought I'd have a Laseractive so I didnt bother getting any. In fact, it wasnt until last year that I got my first LD rom. In fact, it's been years since my laseractive has worked with the sega module plugged in. Works fine as a player, just doesnt work with the module plugged in. I lnow there are ways/people to fix it. Just hasnt been a priority.

I got to Raleigh a bit early to pick up that craigslist stuff so I went to a nearby store that deals in all kinds of used electronics. I was hoping to find a cheap old Arturo receiver that could power my giant old speakers. Oddly enough, mixed in with the cd players was a CLD-201 laserdisc player, marked as a generic cd player for $30. I went ahead and grabbed it. Ironically, I am going to use it as a cd player. More importantly, I found this huge ass Pioneer Elite receiver, the kind where people with way too much money by because money is nothing to them. Ohhhh yeah!
I suppose I shan't give you shit for not hollerin' atcha boy seeing as I was tied up working Moogfest and didn't hit you up the week before when I was in Burlington buying a synth off craigslist, but what was the store?

Let me know if you are, seeing as I live here and usually only work 3 nights a week that can easily be moved around. There's a lot of good shows at my work in June/July, too.
To boldly go where lots of men have gone before...

I picked those up at the Trade It on Capital Blvd, right next to McKay's. They usually don't have jack, but you get lucky once in a while!

    Until it dies.

Of course it all dies and modern capatilism and law makes it almost impossible to preserve. One day there will be more playable pianos from 1850 than laserdisk players. Maybe even more than playable dvd players.

  6. U morose bro?

I mean, so what. Entropy sucks, but move along.

I'm going to bed. I just drove 8 hours and don't feel like explaining the obvious for the 55th time to a willful crazy person.

  8. Whatever!

Excellent pick ups: Jason and the Argonauts, Sword of Doom, Rashomon, and Cabin Boy.

Got a nice pile from a couple of dudes selling on Facebook. A bunch of great movies, and my favorite movie ever is in there!

  10. Jelly of that Blazing Saddles, dood.

Picked up the Beatles Anthology LD box set, it is outstanding. Also the not-on-DVD Criterion 'She's Gotta Have It".

Please baby please baby baby baby please.
