Thread: TNL Gentlemen's Laserdisc Society

  1. glossy electronics like game systems?

  2. #342
Yup. I have a white slim PS2 that had a bunch of minor swirly scratches in the glossy part, as is normal for something that actually gets used. A couple of applications of No 2 made it look brand new. It won't do much for deep scratches though, other than perhaps make them a little smaller.

  3. I used #3 on a scratch that I thought was a crack, followed by an app of #2. The disc would skip/distort badly, and fast forwarding kept sticking on the same frame. The polish greatly diminished the physical appearance of the crack and removed the playback symptoms altogether. That stuff is the Truth.

Nice, I'll have to get a bottle of #3 sometimes.

Speaking of cracks, I pulled out disc one of Bubblegum Crisis and noticed that it had a nice half inch crack on the outside, completely through the disc. Surprisingly, the disc played fine. It screwed up at the very end, but the last thing on the disc is a live music video that I don't care about anyway.

I'd be more bummed if I hadn't got the whole series for $20 on ebay when these are normally $30-40 per disc. Maybe I'll get lucky and find a loose or beat up but working disc 1 somewhere.

  5. Aw man. I've got a copy of Lensman like that, super bummed out about it. Most of the Streamline discs go for big $$, including that one.

You know, one of the things I love most about bluray is that they take up very little space. I have I have almost two hundred movies in one cube that would only fit maybe 50 laserdiscs, probably less.

  9. They don't exactly furnish a room, though. They look like dookie on a shelf. More so than even DVDs.
