The soundtrack is still pretty killer, even though my perspective on the characters over the years has shifted to 'what the fuck are you doing with your life' type dismay.

Judge Dredd was a shit movie regardless, but Rob Schneider just blasted it into the fucking sewer.
I'm not even going to make the obvious joke about this screen grab.

There are elements to it I *really like* but yeah that's a rough movie all around.
The ABC Warbot, redneck Cyborg cannibal family, and everything up to the point where Dredd loses his helmet and it stays lost. The later "Dredd" has nothing to match that stuff; it's a better movie as a whole, but it's missing a certain note.

Do TV shows count?

These characters have the power to turn great shows into shows I hope nobody walks in on me watching. Both have heeelarious bits about being addicted to intravenous drugs!

In some ways the Stallone Dredd translated the comic better than the more recent one...it's obviously larger budget enabled them to realize Mega City One more loyally to the comic, and most of the things you mentioned are well-done as well. Stallone was actually not bad when he had the helmet on and was just being an over-the-top fascist.
There are indeed things to like about it, but the cheese and cringe-worthy dialogue/performances ("LAWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!"), not to mention the non-stop logjam of Hollywood action movie cliches (to the point that it felt like a parody at times) really just killed it...and then there was Rob Schneider, the most annoying asshole sidekick ever.
I think the later Dredd is a far better movie...I have no problem with them playing it straighter and more seriously - the silly sense of humor from the comic would be hit-or-miss in live action - but the lack of some of the signature aspects of the Dredd world were missed. The new movie was less a Dredd movie and more an action movie with Dredd dropped into it.
Like, it's cool when Dredd mentions Resyk or you see Chopper graffiti in the background, but those moments were way too few and far between. I'm okay with that, but if they ever make a sequel (which is doubtful), I'd like to see more from the comics in there.
