Question, why does most of this forum do such a horrible job of reconciling the existence of these people? God’s Not Dead grossed 60 million. The right panders to this crowd like it was going out of fashion, and yet in one shape or another, just about everyone here acts like these guys are dragons.

Yoshi straight up does not claim them. They are not republican. They are not conservative. When I use them interchangeably, he has fits.

The liberals on the forum do a little better, but only talk about them in terms of the ruling elite. In terms of the southern strategy. As secret racists.

BUT, if I talk about them irl terms, I'm always told I'm wrong or insane. If I talk about how people continue to put pressure on women to not have sex, I'm just shut down. I'm insane. I don't know what I'm talking about. You don't know any women like that, so there must not be any pressure or movement of any size anywhere in the country that still pushes those draconian values.

So whats the deal? How are these people real and not real? How does this garbage make 60 million? How are there enough of these people that politicians are still trying to push against gay marriage to obtain votes?

It's a shrinking population, but a very dedicated one. How did Titanic make so much money? A demographic kept going out to see it. Talk about what zealots want to hear and they'll listen and fork over the dough when you ask them to. Look at guys like Creflo Dollar and Joel Osteen. The numbers Osteen pulls off with Lakewood Church is insane.

I think it's more or less an echo chamber with these people and they produce their own media to preach to the choir. They stick together in very tight communities and when you are born into it, it's drilled into your head every single day and very few people leave. God's Not Dead 2 just came out. It's made for cheap by a production company (Pure Flix) that only makes material for this audience. One of the partners of Pure Flix is one of the main characters in the movie (a Reverend, what a surprise). I'm sure he'll get a nicer box office cut from it too.

It's like how do you explain the rationale for the people that follow the doomsday countdown guys after the date passes and every time they say "Oops, I did my math wrong. Doomsday is still coming, though! For real this time!" Most people have just taken the ignore him route.
