I can't decide if local news breaking the long tradition of not reporting standard gun crime is the result of encouraging race fear for ratings or if local news is receiving subsidies to help change the rural perception of guns in an attempt for eventual bans.

Because the stats show its dropping but they report more of it, and they wouldn't waste the air time if there wasn't money to be made.

Everytime I visit my folks, the local news now reports gun crime and some theft.

I have some local news in my Facebook feed and they report the same shit.

You may not be aware of it, but rural towns under 1000 people didn't used to report that crap.

So I ask you, if crime is dropping, why report it now? Ratings from old white people and their fear of minorities? A conscious effort to change the perception of guns in rural america?

Did you guys not know rural America didn't normally report a lot on gun crime? Is that one of the pieces of the pro gun rural America you weren't aware of?

Except for yoshi. Though I suspect he doesn't live in a rural area.

Edit: also most of rural America gets the same news the closest city does. Does Picayune, Mississippi not just get the news broadcast from New Orleans?

They get CNN and fox news etc. I was talking about local news. They really only get local news for that county in their cable bundle. You wouldn't get the news channels for new Orleans nor would local news report on their stuff unless it was exceptional.

Anyway, local news didn't used to report every gun related murder in the county or surrounding counties. Now it does.
