Thread: The World is Shit; It's Fucking Shit

Because that's what their bodies crave. As I recall, glucose is the easiest source to metabolize for energy followed by fats and then protein, and the latter two are way more complex. Your body is always going to go for the easiest source, and will crave whatever it thinks it's lacking. When a person lives on a shitty diet the body is going to be trained to want that and store as much as it can, and it could take years to retrain it to properly break down other sources instead (and you do need some sugar for your brain regardless). Broccoli and eggs are better for you than Doritos but that doesn't mean eating those instead will fulfill the cravings of someone who hasn't normally eaten them.

  2. I definitely noticed a change in my appetite and cravings after I started eating healthy. It was like my body suddenly started telling me what I needed to eat. I would get cravings specifically for vegetables, or carbs, or meat. When I eat garbage for any length of time, I just crave more garbage.

I'm not an alcoholic. I can have a drink after work or not; it's not a big deal to me. So if I were to address an alcoholic as if he should have as easy a time not drinking as I do, then I'd be an asshole.
But what if there was another drink, not good for you in high doses, but would satiate your need to drink? That's what I'm saying. Cost is a good point, but cook yourself up something fresh and delicious with some protein and balance to it. I find it impossible to resist donuts and sweet carbs like that. So i literally have none. Just fruit and popcorn for snacks.

Yeah maybe. The article didn't mention specific types of food cravings just that people were hungrier often.

It's only because they evacuated the whole place that I'm not offended by that. So I'll settle for feeling even more smug and morally superior than normal.

  7. This has been a long time coming. Despite overwhelming scientific evidence and conventional wisdom, people insist on putting out every little fire no matter what, and the result is that the entire place is just a tinder box.

It doesn't satiate. That's the whole point. If it did they wouldn't be blacking out and eating a whole bag of chips.

Do you tell people with depression just to get over it?

I'd certainly tell them to take the responsibility to solve their problem and not make excuses for them.
