I've given up on trying to buy any AES games, the prices have gotten way too out of hand.

Seriously man, it's the exact same thing as removing the chip on a nes cart, it just has a few more pins. You just solder a socket in place instead of the replacement chip.

How do you get the vga passthrough to work? I tried but I'm probably doing something wrong.

Power down the XRGB-2 before you turn on the system or PC you're using in the VGA port, and then it's good to go.
