Thread: Sega wants your real opinions..This should be good...

  1. Kinda bummed 3D Classics wasn't a set-up for sequels done right. 'Here's a Mega Drive style SOR 4, we've been working with the original team so much on the 3D ports so we just snuck this out.'

Sega's best selling IP at this point has to be either Total War or Football Manager, doesn't it? They're not a console company anymore. I miss when they were an arcade company personally.

  3. Derby Manager wat wat

Don't get me wrong, I'd love a new Shinobi or Streets of Rage or whatever, but it's not like beat em ups or ninja action games are super popular these days. The idea that the only thing keeping Sega from becoming an upper tier publisher is a fucking Shining Force 3 remaster is a bit delusional IMO.
I'm not saying that those kinds of games would match what Call of Duty or the like do each year, but there must be some market for them no? It seems like so many "indie" developers desperately try to recreate the 16 bit era, and it seems quite a few of them find success.

I would see there could be a possible market for Sega to tap into some of that. Like a Mega Man 9 and 10 sort of thing.

Fuck that. We don't need major publishers making retro games that also fail to be as good as the real thing. If a new Streets of Rage or whatever comes out in 2016 or beyond, it needs to look like Xrd in terms of tech. The related problem is that Sega doesn't have the internal talent anymore to nail the gameplay either most likely.

Derby Owners Club. Don't get it twisted, for a while that was my shit.

I think talent/resources is a problem, Sega isn't a big company, it's tough to justify dropping tens of millions of dollars on a AAA update of Greendog.

Even if Sega tried to make a small Mega Man 9 style game... go play Sonic 4 and see how that could turn out.

Edit: I say this and think a Shining Force 3 remaster would actually be a good fit for today's market, what with XCOMs and all. But that's maybe the exception.

  8. Speaking recently, Tembo was pretty good, but launch-day technical problems really messed with that game.

They should probably do just PC at this point. Maybe even go as far as doing mainly steam like releases. That would probably be the best way to get money out of their aging, cheap ass fanbase.

It would also allow them to release to the US, UK, EU and Brazil, all at the same time and avoid waste on supply chains.

Maybe spice it up with LE physical copies on release dates, and physical copies from their online store.
