Thread: The Biden Presidency

  1. I heard some polling today has 8 in 10 Democrats thinking the country is heading the wrong direction and 26% (!) are "Proud to be Americans". If the party doesn't move towards the center it's just going to get worse.

  2. I'm really curious what is an example of the party moving to the center on any issue would be? It seem like anything short of complete concession to what the congressional republicans want is seen as unacceptable and doing nothing would be preferable. Infrastructure seems to be the only issue where this isn't necessarily true.

I just looked up that poll and it looks like it's been asking that question monthly since mid 2017. And every article that is reporting this seems to be showing a chart that starts in January of 2021 when the number of people saying the country was heading in the right direction was at it's all time high (5 out of 10) since the polling started. If you started that chart in July of 2020 then only 2/10 Americans would say the country was heading in the right direction and if you started at the first reporting in June of 2017 it was 3.4 out of 10. Also, the vast majority of people polled considered themselves either Moderate (44%) or Conservative (30%). While 44% of responders say they lean more toward Democrat only 24% consider themselves liberal (and only 10% as very liberal). I also didn't see any mention of the 26% that are "proud to be American", maybe that was a different poll?

  3. I'd be preparing for the super inflation, that some are predicting to happen within the next couple of weeks.

  4. We are already experiencing super inflation. Hyperinflation is next.

  5. I think the DNC is too centrist as it is. Being "not Republican" worked against trump, but isn't a viable long term strategy. Federally legalize weed. Cancel 10k student loan debt.

But, they won't. It will all be roe v wade and we will fix it after midterms when you vote us in also give us money.

People are struggling. Saying not my fault, trump did it, Republicans don't have a plan, doesn't work.

    Do something.
I can't. Need more senators, vote blue.
Guess that "I can bring people together etc." was just horseshit.

Sticking by my call. Recession by November.

2008-2009 is rearing its ugly head!

High gas prices, Stock market collapse, housing bank loans going into default. It's going to get a bit scary.

  7. The major difference this time is that if the housing market collapses companies like Black Rock are going to buy up all the houses we are very rapidly becoming a nation of renters and that's not going to change.

    Middle class is dead.

It's actually "extremely proud" - https://news.gallup.com/poll/394202/...-american.aspx, my bad.

    Issues? Start with immigration reform.

  9. Okay then, what's the compromise on immigration? Do we just cut it all off from poor nations and only take high skilled individuals and then limit their ability to bring their family (chain migration)? That seems like the ideal GOP plan but I'm not 100% on that.

  10. Secure border. Change birthright to being born anywhere by a citizen only. Increase work visas. There is a tax on a certain amount of visas per company. After 7-10 years no problems and taxes paid, green card. 5 more citizenship. Feed illegal crossers at border.
