Really? Hrm. There's this bi-partisan infrastructure bill that's been sitting in limbo for months because the Leader of the House, Democrat, won't bring it up for a vote because certain members of the House, Democrats, won't vote for it unless the 3.5 Trillion dollar infrastructure bill that's Biden's (Democrat) baby is passed along with it.

Can we just agree that the Congress, in general, can't govern as it's always hyper partisan and never about give and take. Both sides are equally culpable in the inability to govern.

And you think the Republicans wouldn't unanimously vote against it if/when it passes, like they've voted against everything else? At least the Democrats are negotiating.

Against the bi-partisan infrastructure bill? No, I think that would've passed. I don't think the additional infrastructure bill that the Democrats are trying to attach to it will get Republican support. They definitely had the votes to pass the first one.

  4. Nothing in the Senate will pass. 60 votes are needed and 10 Republicans aren't going to cross the aisle to vote for the President's agenda, even if it helps their states. Never have, never will under McConnell. And the Democrats, in their infinite incompetence, can't even drum up enough votes to remove the filibuster.

    We're so screwed, lol.

The Senate passed the infrastructure bill 69-30

  6. They voted for the one that barely covers anything because they won't back the actual infrastructure bill that is what the President wants. I can see there being opposition, but there's always uniform obstruction, even if the legislation benefits their constituents. They certainly do love to go home and sing the praises of the what the bill they voted against is going to give their state, though.

Of course, this shouldn't even be an issue and there shouldn't be two bills in the first place. Republicans don't reach across the aisle and hang their entire agenda on what the opposition wants. They gain power and ram their legislation through. Agree or not, at least they get what they want done. Democrats spend all their time eating their young and daydreaming about bipartisanship instead of just doing the same thing Republicans do. It's infuriating how broken Washington is.

Wait, what? 1.2 trillion "barely covers anything"? WTF?

The total amount of money in the entire world, in circulation, is estimated to be 40 trillion dollars so that budget is almost 3% of the total wealth of the entire planet. Come on.

  8. It's actually only $550 billion in new spending in the $1.2 trillion plan. The $1.2 trillion figure comes from including previously approved funding normally allocated each year for highways and other infrastructure projects.

It isn't 1.2 trillion, it's less than half that. Literally it's just transportation infrastructure -- roads, trains, bridges, etc -- which, while certainly needed, is hardly enough to get us where we need to recover from Covid.

Some of this stuff is just basic shit that we need as a society to function -- universal pre-K and childcare, and the additional funding for elder care. We have plummeting fertility rates among the working class because no one can afford kids anymore. We need to make basic things like owning a home, getting married, and having children affordable or we are officially on our way out as a nation.

The country's falling apart, dude, the time for fiscal conservative hand wringing and trickle down economics is over. Wealth inequality is worse than it was in the Gilded Age of the early 20th century, and another great depression is coming if we don't seriously embrace some policies that make life livable for the bottom 60% of the country. If we tax the richest 400 people in the country alone like 10% we have more than enough to cover it. This shit's stupid.

1.) It's a trillion+ dollar bill with 550 billion in new spending and the rest previously approved
2.) Again, you're laying out this entire argument for a bill that I haven't taken a position on, merely that it's a lot of money and had bi-partisan support. Is that in dispute?

    Stop this shit, dude. Please.
