Thread: The Biden Presidency

  1. What does "secure border" mean? The wall? It's nearly 2000 miles, locking that down would require the largest jobs program in this country's history and would cost an astronomical amount of money. It's not impossible but I'd argue that the money would be a net loss and lead to our economy tanking in the long run. And that's just the Mexican border, I'm assuming that Canada's is already secure enough.

Birthright is gonna be tough to change. You'd need to get rid of section 1 of the 14th Amendment and the 1952 Immigration and Nationality Act. Not impossible but nearly so with how constitutional changes are made.

Also I'm curious about your definition of "illegal crossers" I've heard it described as anyone applying for asylum at official checkpoints all the way down to just those making the trek with coyotes avoiding all checkpoints.

Ridiculous. How about we do what every nation in Europe (largely socialist) does? https://www.europarl.europa.eu/facts...gration-policy

Above you do exactly what the Democrats do CONSTANTLY and what people are weary of - make it a race ("poor nations") issue when it isn't. There needs to be a policy and it needs to be followed - whatever it is. Skilled labor, unskilled labor, etc... JUST KNOW WHO IS COMING IN for fuck's sake.

This isn't game of thrones. Who needs a wall? Put dudes every 1/2 mile with drones and border patrol nearby. Use national guard. Use technology to make this easier.

Birthright can and should be changed. Why this country has sacred dirt, I don't know. It will probably never change.

An illegal crosser is someone who knowingly crosses the borders when they are not authorized to do so. Asylum seekers should be met at stations on the border or at our embassies to assess need and fed.

  4. Whatever is going on currently at the southern border is not working. Or is it whomever?

IIRC that was one of then "Kamala has this role" type jobs which faded rather quickly.

I may be wrong. Media doesn't seem to ever mention the border issue anymore...

I was doing contract work out at a government faculty for about 9 months. The phone system administrator had 2 new hires that were supposed to replace the contractors that were doing phone work under him. One of the new hires was a guy that was in the Air Force Reserve. He was talking about possibly being shipped out to the border, shortly after our time there was done. It was about 2 weeks ago that I got a call from Doug, asking if I’d heard anything about us being brought back, because the Air Reserve guy got shipped out, several weeks ago.

  6. Better there than afganistanimation or some other warzone, I guess.

  7. Fun Fact: The USA/Mexico border is only the 10th largest in the world.

  8. According to white house press secretary, we have entered "a transition into stable and steady growth"

    Previously known as a Recession.

  9. Country who by definition is in a recession worried they might heading toward recession they are already in.

  10. Gas is back down a bit but I doubt it'll be back to what it originally was. $3.31 a gallon as of this post.
