Thread: Requiem for a Dream

  1. Requiem for a Dream

Fuck those all-star cartoon after-school specials. You want a movie to paint the big picture, have your kids watch this movie. I saw it... and I got sick to my stomach. Ellen Burnsten portrays a crazy old hag incredibly, and the cinematography is one of the best I've seen. Comments?

  2. Funny you should start a thread about this film... I have it on loan from a friend, but have yet to watch it. Once I do, I'll be sure to return and let you know what I thought.

  3. Truly the best anti-drug movie ever. Aranovski is a brilliant director (I think thats his name...).

Trying to explain what happens to people is hard, because once you say "ass to ass" they think "cool!" .

  4. Requiem for a Dream was a pretty cool movie. Very disturbing. They all tried to find that happiness, they found hell.

    LOL.

that dildo scene with Jennifer Connelly was nice
Way to ruin one of the biggest shockers of the movie.

Probably the biggest mind fuck movie I have ever seen. Just, whoa.

  6. This is one of my favorite movies of all time, even though it is difficult to sit through it all the time. Technically, it is an amazing movie, musically, it is an amazing movie, the acting is amazing... it just is the epidome of an amazing movie. Aronofsky is a great director, and I felt this was much better than Pi. I own the soundtrack to both movies though, because the music is a big part of it. I would talk more, but it's been a long day.... I will return.........

  7. man, talk about good use of music. I feel seriously yuck when I listen to the soundtrack now (I owned it before I saw the movie).

I loved Requiem. I was warned of its disturbing nature before I saw it so I was expecting it but it was still disturbing.

  9. Wow this was an amazing movie. I just rented it from Blockbuster, and wow. All they had was the edited R rated version? How does this compare to the unedited DVD version? What scenes were altered.

  10. You can look on IMDb, but basically it's the end orgy scene. There are a lot more shots of the actual things the girls are doing, whereas in the edited version they show more of the businessmen, or even cut to other scenes (I belive the surgeon). I don't know how detailed I should get, but basically it's more effective when uncut, which is why Aronofsky had nothing to do with the edited version, and wanted to make sure people knew it was edited. For a future note, blockbuster will ALWAYS have the edited versions of movies because they refuse to carry unrated or NC-17 movies. This is one of the many reasons that I will NOT give them my business EVER. Go to a real video store and get the real version.
